Boys Basketball
The Seekonk boys’ basketball team opened its season on Monday with a big win at home over Mount St. Charles, 60-25. Mitch Blanchard led the way with 16 points and James Jackson added 10 in the win.
On Friday night, the Warriors traveled to Norton High and were humbled by the Lancers, 56-37. James Jackson scored 10 points in the loss. Seekonk is 1-1 on the young season.
Girls Basketball
It was a rapid-fire beginning to the season for the Warriors as they played four games in seven days.
The Warriors hosted perennial South Coast Conference powerhouse Apponequet last Friday in their season opener and fell to the Lakers, 71-40. Mia DiBiase scored 20 points and Sabrina Russell added 14 points in the loss.
Seekonk bounced back with a win at North Providence on Monday, 58-31. DiBiase again led the way with 20 points.
In its third game of the week, the Warriors suffered a disappointed loss to Mount St. Charles, 42-36. Seekonk shot itself in the foot down the stretch by failing to convert from the free throw line. They shot 3-14 in the fourth quarter.
Yet again, the Warriors bounced back after a loss to defeat Central Falls at home on Friday, 50-39. Mia Dibiase led the scoring attack with 17 points.
The Warriors are 2-2 on the season.
Swim
The Warriors opened its swim season with a convincing win over Durfee, 122-53. Their meet against Coyle & Cassidy was canceled due to lack of heat at the Taunton Boys & Girls club.
The Warriors are 1-0 on the season.
