The Dighton-Rehoboth Falcons turned in one of their best performances of the season on Friday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Martha’s Vineyard. The Falcons qualified for the state tournament with the win.
Both teams entered halftime knotted at zero, but a second half outburst enabled the Falcons to punch their ticket to the tournament.
“We played well enough to hold our own in the first half,” said D-R head coach Meghan Marcotte. “But we really came alive in the second half and never let up.”
D-R got on the board first with a goal from Emma Wheeler, assisted by Kaylee Goss.
The Falcons got a late game insurance goal when senior defender Grace Tremblay scored on a penalty stroke.
Abby Behm earned the shutout in goal.
The Falcons next play Fairhaven.
