The D-R Falcons return 13 players from a squad that squeaked into the playoffs last year by finishing a game over .500. Head coach Steve Kulpa (18th season) hopes that the experience gained last season will translate into success this year.
“We have a senior heavy team with plenty of experience,” said Kulpla. “We will be going for the big division championship but have many tough opponents in a strong conference.”
With no returning South Coast Conference all-stars, the Falcons will need to gel and play as a team to make a run at a conference title.
“Our team goals are to continue to mesh as one unit and play a solid brand of competitive soccer,” said Kulpa.
The Falcons opened their 2017 season yesterday with a win over Bourne and then tried to get some revenge yesterday against the team that ended their 2016 season – Bishop Feehan. In 2016, the Shamrocks beat the Falcons 5-1. Yesterday, the Falcons fought the Shamrocks to a 2-2 tie in Attleboro.
Joey Reed and Noah Munroe scored goals for D-R in the tie.
