The Warriors graduated a stellar class in 2017 that led the Warriors to two thrilling overtime play-off victories before falling to eventual state champion Mashpee.
Although Seekonk brings back no league all-stars, there is plenty of reason for optimism. The offense returns mobile quarterback Terry Smith and super athletic wide receiver Shane Smith to an offense that likes to spread defenses out and pass the ball.
Last year the Warriors finished in a logjam atop the South Coast Conference-small standings and the goal is to get back there.
“We should be very competitive,” said Seekonk assistant coach Matt Brown. “We graduated quite a few seniors but our young guys are really competing every day.”
Once a team wins a share of the league title and wins a couple play-off games, it would be unreasonable to set the bar lower than that the following season.
“Our goal is to compete for the SCC championship and advance as far into playoffs as we can,” said Brown.
The Warriors kick off their season on Friday, September 8th at non-conference foe Ashland High. The Clockers are a strong program from the Tri-Valley League a year removed from an equally as impressive play-off run as the Warriors.
