Stocked with a talented and experienced roster, fifth-year head coach Matt McCartin is reasonably optimistic that the Seekonk High boys’ soccer team is poised for a great – and maybe even historic – season.
“Our goal is to win the small division and then win the conference championship,” said McCartin. “We have been close multiple years but have never in school history won a conference championship.”
With 14 returning varsity players, led by all-stars Luke Robitaille and Rony Morales, McCartin has set the bar high for the Warriors.
“We will be very competitive,” said McCartin. “I like our chances to win the small division.”
The team is filled with experienced players, but will also expect contributions from its newcomers.
“We are very talented and return a lot of varsity starters and have some younger guys who are going to be real impactful for us this year,” said McCartin. “We hope to make a deep run in the Division-3 South State Tournament.”
That journey to the tourney starts this Friday when the Warriors host the Old Rochester Bulldogs.
