Last Year’s Record – League Record 9-3-2; Overall Record 9-6-3
The Falcons return 11 varsity players from a nine-win team a year ago and fourth-year varsity coach Meghan Marcotte expects her squad to be highly competitive in the South Coast Conference.
“I think we will hold our own and be competitive in the SCC,” said Marcotte. “With Somerset joining, it will add a new dynamic to our conference and bring about a new level of competition. We’ve always been very competitive within the league and I anticipate that happening again this season.”
In addition to playing its league schedule, D-R will play two games each against non-league foes Durfee and Martha’s Vineyard.
Constant improvement will be a recurring theme for the Falcons, who again look to be an elite team in the conference.
“As a team, we strive to always be the best that we can and play the full 60 minutes,” said Marcotte. “We also hope to improve each time we step on the field. We are working hard to once again place in the top three of the conference and make the state tournament as well as win a state tournament game.”
Although the team has a lot of veterans, maintaining a winning attitude and a respectful culture is a consistent goal of the Falcons.
“Throughout the season, we make it our goal to respect and show sportsmanship to not only our own teammates but our opponents and to always be humble in victory and gracious in defeat,” said Marcotte.
The Falcons kick off their season on Friday, September 8th when they host rival Seekonk at 3:30.
